Bu listeler neden 5.000 ya da 10.000 kelimelik olanlardan kısa?

Çünkü yaklaşık 2.500'den sonra sıklık sırası pek bir şey ifade etmiyor. Bir web derleminde 6.000. kelime daha zor bir kelime değil, gazetecilikte sık geçtiği için orada duran bir kelime. Yerleşik derecelendirilmiş okuma dizileri de aynı nedenle 2.500 civarında duruyor.
