De dónde viene esto

El orden está medido: sale de la frecuencia con la que aparece cada palabra en un corpus grande, contando todas las formas de una palabra juntas y no cada forma por separado, de modo que un verbo queda donde de verdad te lo encuentras. Los límites entre niveles son una convención, no una medición. Nada dice que la palabra 501 sea más difícil que la 500; los niveles se cortan donde los cortan las colecciones de lecturas graduadas.

La frecuencia se suma entre todas las formas de una palabra y se atribuye a la forma de diccionario, así que un verbo queda donde un lector se lo encuentra de verdad y no repartido entre una docena de terminaciones.

¿Por qué son más cortas que las listas de 5.000 o 10.000 palabras?

Porque a partir de unas 2.500 el orden de frecuencia deja de significar gran cosa. La palabra 6.000 de un corpus web no es una palabra más difícil, es una palabra que resulta ser frecuente en el periodismo. Las colecciones de lecturas graduadas se detienen cerca de 2.500 por la misma razón.

¿Todas las palabras son palabras reales de diccionario?

Sí. Cada entrada se comprueba contra el Wikcionario del propio idioma, de donde salen la categoría gramatical, el género y el significado. Esa comprobación es lo que quita los nombres propios, las letras sueltas y el ruido del corpus que llenan las listas de frecuencia sin filtrar.

¿Necesito la aplicación?

Para esta página no. La lista de A1 es gratis aquí y gratis en la aplicación. De A2 a B2 forman parte de Oqou Pro, y la aplicación es además donde una palabra puede pasar de una lista a una cola de repaso, que es lo que una página no puede hacer.

¿Lo ha revisado un hablante nativo?

Todavía no. El orden de frecuencia y la categoría gramatical son mecánicos, y los significados vienen de un diccionario en lugar de estar escritos a mano, pero nada de esto ha pasado por revisión nativa. Si ves un significado técnicamente correcto pero inútil en la práctica, nos gustaría saberlo.
